Whilst it's true that eBay's own online auction software is continually being upgraded there are other providers that can offer their own versions of online auction software that can be used in conjunction with eBay.
Some are web based, others downloadable to your computer. Some require you to pay a monthly subscription while others are free.
eBay Selling Tools:
Mostly free to download and help you automate your selling activities on eBay.
eBay Turbo Lister – An excellent tool for those who sell frequently on eBay. This software is entirely free and downloadable allowing you to create your listings “offline” and upload to eBay.
Hammer Tap Deep Analysis - eBay selling software that will enable you to search auctions and help you find the hottest selling items listed in your category in addition to how likely it is that your item will sell,

Andale (http://www.andale.com) – A company that offers many specific products as opposed to one off solutions. Including: Listers - Image Hosting – Stats Counters – Analysers - Galleries - Checkout Managers and an Email manager. Products are usually charged for individually.
Vendio (http://www.vendio.com) - A company offering two alternatives of online auction software know as “Sales Manager”.
The Sales Manager Merchandiser software is intended for those who mainly list individual auctions and the Sales Manager Inventory software for those who wish to list multiple auctions in one go.
There are many more companies selling online auction software and eBay maintains a comprehensive directory of those that they have approved.
